Certificate of Professional Competence / CPC a Definition:

The Certificate of Professional Competence in transport management or as it is more commonly known a CPC Cert, within the transport industry. Is given to a person who though examination has shown that they can be considered to be professional competence in the managing of transport operations to the required level of compliance, as defined by the operator licensing regime.

Certificate of Professional Competence / CPC a Brief History:

Certificate of Professional Competence was introduce alongside with both The Goods & Public Service Vehicles sections, of the (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995; which was designed to implement EC Directives 96/26/EC, EC Directive 98/76/EC, and subordinate legislation. That being (Regulation (EC) No 1071/2009 with regard to the occupations related to the management of Goods & Public Service Vehicle Operations.

Before 04/12/11 there were four types of Certification in relation to the showing of Professional Competence within the transport industry these were: International Passenger Transport, International Road Haulage & National Passenger Transport, and National Road Haulage all of which were at level 3

The Certificate of Professional Competence qualifications were amalgamated, as of 04/12/11 to incorporate both National & International certificate of professional competence (CPC) qualifications to meet European requirements, these are as shown below.

Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers (Road Haulage) Level 3

The old international Certificate of Professional Competence qualification was only be achievable as a standalone exam for those already in possession of a national certificate of professional competence (CPC) until end of 2013.

These changes made it possible for those wishing to enter the profession of Road Haulage Transport Management to be compliant with the new regulations, plus allowing those demonstrate professional competence by the procession of Certificate of Professional Competence at the time of the changes to continue being accepted as being professional competence in the area of transport operations management.
